VA drops 1M Reward Seats & 1 Point Rewards amid big changes to Velocity

Velocity Frequent Flyers can now power up their freebies faster with new changes to Virgin Australia’s loyalty program including 1 Point Rewards as well as the largest-ever reward seat release with one million VA domestic seats available for members.

Velocity Frequent Flyers can now power up their freebies faster with new changes to Virgin Australia’s loyalty program including 1 Point Rewards as well as the largest-ever reward seat release with one million VA domestic seats available for members.

From 5 June 2023, Velocity members can take advantage of one million extra Virgin Australia redemption seats across the VA network and fly across Australia for fewer Velocity Points.

The minimum Velocity Points required for domestic Virgin Australia Reward Seats is now 20 per cent less, starting from 6,200 Velocity Points (previously 7,800 Points) plus taxes, fees and carrier charges, making it the lowest lead-in domestic redemption airfares.

1 Point Rewards

Velocity will also launch 1 Point Rewards from 11 June to 2 July 2023, allowing members to redeem just 1 Velocity Point for VA domestic and international flights plus products from the Velocity Rewards Store.

To celebrate its 1 Point Rewards, Velocity will open its first-ever, pop-up Rewards Store on Melbourne’s Chapel Street on Saturday 10 June for 24 hours only before the nationwide launch.

Velocity Frequent Flyer CEO Nick Rohrlach said the changes were designed to position Velocity as Australia’s most-loved loyalty program as it approaches 11.5 million members.

“We know from the data that Australians want fast rewards from their loyalty programs and that’s what we are giving them. You’ll continue to see more innovations that lead the way in terms of rewards and recognition for our members – this is just the start.”

“We are proud to now offer the lowest domestic flight redemption rates of any Australian airline. This shows our commitment to bringing value to members who can really drive their dollar further for being part of Velocity,” he said.

Ranked as Australia’s third-largest loyalty program, Velocity’s recent partners include Qatar Airways, United Airlines and Myer along with a proposed partnership with Luxury Escapes from mid-2023.
