Vietjet has revealed its fourth Australian destination, with flights between Perth and Ho Chi Minh City set to commence on 21 November 2023.

Marking the first direct Western Australia-Vietnam link, Vietjet’s new service brings the airline’s total number of weekly return flights to Australia to 19.

The new twice-weekly service will depart Perth Airport at 23.20 (local time) and arrive at Tan Son Nhat Airport (HCMC) at 05:05 (local time) every Tuesday and Saturday.

Return flights depart Ho Chi Minh at 13.35 and touch down in Perth at 21.20 on the same days.

Surprise announcement?

Earlier this year, Vietjet Vice President Nguyen Thanh Son said that “in the coming year, we plan to expand to cities including Brisbane, Darwin and Adelaide”. No mention was made of Perth. The carrier began BNE flights in June.

To celebrate the new WA service, Vietjet will extend its weekly Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday sales until 31 December 2023. Valid for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth to Ho Chi Minh City flights, the promotion offers one-way, all-in fares from AU$200.

Available at www.vietjetair.com and also on the airline’s mobile app, the special fares are valid for travel between 10 August 2023 to 31 March 2024.

Meanwhile, the airline is still offering free domestic flights within Vietnam for Australian travellers. Read more about that here.

Last month, Vietjet upped frequencies for the second time, growing capacity from 20 to 34 flights per week.

Today, for one day only, Vietjet is offering passengers 88 per cent off airfares to any destination in its network.

Meanwhile, Vietnam Airlines says it also intends to commence non-stop flights between WA and Vietnam.

Sources close to the matter told AirlineRatings.com the full-service carrier plans to operate a Perth-Hanoi service from December utilising its A350 aircraft once documentation is complete.

The flight will leave Perth late and touch down in Vietnam early the next day.
