Prefer the room next to the elevator or would you rather hide away at the end of the hallway?

We all have different preferences when it comes to our ideal hotel room, but it’s only by chance that our desires are fully met.

That is until now.

Hilton HHonors members can use their phones to request exact rooms.

Hilton Hotel has started a new digital rollout that allows its Hilton HHonors account holders to check-in and choose their exact room via a mobile or tablet.

The app will also allow guests to request upgrades or make special requests for items to be delivered to their rooms

The app also lets guests request room items and deliveries.

It’s the first-of-its-kind technology by Hilton Worldwide in Asia Pacific to give customers access to ultimate customisation.

Global Head of Digital, Geraldine Calpin said digital check-in and room selection puts guests in the driving seat with ‘unprecedented choice and control’.

“Never before have guests been able to check-in, select their rooms from a digital floor plan, and customise their rooms to be ready for arrival.”

This is how it works:

For room selection, the day before a booked stay, Hilton HHonors members sign into their accounts via their mobile devices, tablets or computers to check-in and choose their preferred rooms through floor plan maps or lists populated from the hotel’s available inventory.

Photos of rooms are also available to help with selection.

Guests will have access to almost all accommodation options.

For special requests, guests can further customise their stays at full-service hotels by purchasing upgrades and requesting specific amenities to be delivered to their rooms before arrival.

And by the end of 2016, Hilton is hoping to have ‘Room key’ up and running, which will see guests unlocking doors using their smartphones.
