Which US city is #1 for tourism? Surprise, it's not NYC, L.A. OR Vegas

New York City & Los Angeles may have smashed visitor numbers last year, but neither came close to topping Orlando, which solidified itself as America's most visited destination with 75 million visitors.

New York City & Los Angeles may have smashed visitor numbers last year, but neither came close to topping Orlando, which solidified itself as America’s most visited destination with 75 million visitors.

The theme park capital of the United States is leading the way for tourism in the great North by attracting 75 million visitors in 2018, which is at least 10 million more than some of its closest competing destinations.

It may seem unlikely that the central Florida city is such as success, but it’s a lot less surprising when remembering that it’s home to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Discovery Cove, and many more attractions.

Visit Orlando revealed that the record-breaking visitor number came after a 4.2 percent increase in visitors last year, which is believed to have been driven by the destination’s ongoing growth and focus on marketing.

“This success is a testament to the special appeal of our destination that continues to grow and evolve, as well as our strong commitment to strategic marketing initiatives.”

Some 68.55 million of Orlando’s visitors in 2018 came from domestic travel, while 6.48 million was made up of international visitors, up 5.4 percent on the prior year.
