Flight Centre has released its top 10 travel destinations for 2020. This list 100% has you covered with dreamy destination inspiration and information.
The company said there is a growing interest outside of classic destinations with more travellers seeking to beat the crowds and discover something special before everyone else catches on.
Here are the top 10 destinations, in no particular order:
#1. Mérida, Mexico
Travellers adore The Yucatan Peninsula, but customers are seeking more unique ways to experience the destination. Mérida is becoming more and more popular, due to its trendy boutique hotels, creative dining and historic architecture.
Sweden is absolutely beautiful and a great alternative to somewhere like Venice or Paris. Sweden has it all; fashionable cities, Baltic beaches and stunning mountains, perfect for every travel style.
#3. New Zealand
New Zealand is a small country with a big appeal. It offers experiences ranging from adrenalin pumping bungee jumping and white water rafting to more of a relaxed approach, exploring modern art galleries and world-class dining. Flight Centre notes that many travellers choose to combine New Zealand with another South Pacific destination.
Active travellers (and Harry Potter fans!) will adore the stunning scenery and history of Scotland. Scotland is an underestimated haven for hiking and camping – home to lochs, links, famous train journeys, highlands, castles and magical cities.
#5. Costa Rica
Costa Rica has a huge appeal for nature-lovers, thanks to its diverse rainforests, waterfalls, thermal springs and beaches.
Bali is pretty much a social media influencer in itself. Social is one of the reasons this island is growing in popularity. Bali has appeal for solo adventurers, foodies and couples seeking something original for a romantic getaway.
#7. The Bahamas
The Bahamas is an ecological oasis; a paradise, boasting the clearest water on the planet. It’s great to see it on the list, as the best way to rebuild Grand Bahama and the Abacos after Dorian is to support the country through tourism. Plus, many of the other islands weren’t affected and are open for business as usual.
The Philippines has become one of Flight Centre’s most popular flight bookings. It’s a very affordable destination that offers idyllic beaches, wishlist experiences and unique cuisine.
If you’re a lover of the Greek Islands, Cyprus offers one rewarding step further into the Mediterranean. Flight Centre recommend pairing a trip to Cyprus with a guided combined tour of Turkey and Northern Cyprus.
Vietnam is steadily becoming a more mainstream destination, with many new options available to travellers. From cycling tours to foodie trips, river cruises to fantastic shopping.
