While Qatar Airways & Singapore Airlines toss the title of ‘World’s Best Airlines’ between themselves every year, AirAsia managed to hang onto the crown of ‘World’s Best Low-Cost Airline’ for 11 years in a row!
Well done AirAsia, what an achievement!
The carrier received the title at the 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards, topping competitors such as EasyJet (second place) and Norwegian (third place). It even beat Australia’s Jetstar, which came in as World’s 6th Best Low-Cost Airline.
It was one of two awards that AirAsia took out on the night alongside ‘World’s best Low-Cost Airline Premium Cabin’.
AirAsia Group’s Executive Chairman, Datuk Kamarudin Meranun said it was an honour to take out the prestigious title 11 years in a row, and to be recognised by the 21.65 million people from 100 countries who reviewed over 300 airlines.
“The fact that these awards are based on direct feedback is gratifying and wonderful recognition for the Allstars who put so much effort and commitment into service excellence for our guests.”
Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, AirAsia Group Berhad Executive Chairman
Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, AirAsia X’s Chairman, added that the win represented the dedication to the “Allstars” aka staff who have “been steadfast in upholding our corporate culture, mission and vision”.
Awesome work team!
