#KOExtraMile: Love was in the air

Robyn & Matthew’s wedding

You never really know when you could meet the love of your life. In 2011, Robyn was on an Emirates flight to Dubai from Sydney flying Business Class, her first big work trip overseas. She introduced herself to Matthew, the man sitting beside her and they hit it off straight away.

They watched the same movies, played battleship, and eventually fell asleep under the A380 ‘stars’ together.

Matthew then proposed to Robyn early last year. “All thanks to that wonderful flight where we first met  – both of us are forever grateful for Emirates for ‘getting us together’ – especially grateful is our 10 month old son Lewis!” – Robyn

Ahead of their wedding in September last year, the couple got in touch with Emirates and asked to commemorate their relationship, they would love to give their guests an Emirates amenity bag.

“It sounds rather unusual, but to Matthew and myself, this is the perfect way to share with our friends and family the whole reason we are together today and will be together forever.”

Emirates showed exceptional customer service and provide the couple with make and female Business Class Amenity Kits for Robyn and Matthew’s guests along with a model A380 aircraft. The Amenity Kits includes Bvlgari perfumes and products, toothpaste and brush, tissues and mirror.

But this wasn’t the first time Emirates has helped a couple find love.

Stuart & Victoria’s Proposal

In August last year, Stuart Mackinnon proposed to Victoria Loudon on their Emirates A380 flight to Brisbane.

Stuart asked the Flight Purser and cabin crew team for help putting his proposal together just after take-off. The crew then decided to get creative, they enlisted the help of the Baradene College Concert Band who just luckily happened to be on board.

The Emirates crew transformed the Onboard Lounge into a perfect setting for their special moment, serenading the couple with Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a Wonderful World’ sung by a talented crew member. Needless to say – she said yes.

“It was always going to be a truly special moment in my life but what happened took it to a level I could never have imagined. There could have been no better setting anywhere in the world. The nerves I had were put at ease with the fantastic crew members, the Captain and all the passengers,”
