Planning that month-long trip away with your newly betrothed can be stressful but here are three apps that will have you sorted…right down to how many pairs of underwear you’ll need!

Ahh, the joys of a wedding. Your favourite people surround you as you take to the isle to “pledge allegiance” to your loved one in sickness and in health. There’s the beautiful reception filled with flowers and fanciful food. Then you and your newly betrothed gather your things, head off into the sunset and on the honeymoon of your dreams.

Unfortunately, the reality of organising a honeymoon isn’t as smooth as the frosting on your wedding cake.

Somewhere between reception and limo, you realise you’ve forgotten your passport. Then, as you finally reach your destination, your allergies play up but you’ve left your antihistamine at home. When you get to the hotel, you are slammed with a million additional costs and what you assumed would be a paradise retreat is a quaint old rats nest with a share-toilet.

Fear not! Here is a list of three apps to download once you start planning your great getaway. They are guaranteed to remove any nasty surprises, remind you of your essentials and take the stress out of honeymoon planning.

1. Get packing!

One for all the scatterbrains out there. The aptly named GetPacked app. (RRP: $2.49 on iTunes) is a pocket-sized “mum” that will keep on your back until you tick off every item on the ever-important packing list. GetPacked asks you a series of questions, such as where you plan to be going and how long you plan to stay there, and will provide a list of things you need to pack to survive in that locale. You can personalise lists and add your own must-packs. There’s also the option to create a list of tasks one has to complete before running off into the sunset with your significant other.

2. I spy a hotel in the sky

Search engine giants, Skyscanner have just this week created an app, Skyscanner Hotels, which allows you to search hundreds and thousands of hotels, apartments and hostels all over the world. You and your newly betrothed can sift through a procession of accommodation images, or set the desired price range and book all the accommodation you need through the app. You’ll be able to read customer reviews and can even save your searches to favourites to consider whether the jacuzzi is better at the Radison or the Hilton. London to France, Dubai to Macau, in one hit? Sorted.

3. The tactical tourist

Sick of visiting places, then coming home to a tirade of “abuse” from well-travelled friends wondering why you didn’t visit the world’s biggest whachamacallit, or the most beautiful whonow on the coast of lala. Well, that all stops with Touristeye, a user-friendly app that will provide you with all the information and ideas for your next trip or getaway. With over 10 000 locations, 300 000 tourist attractions and recommendations for nearby must-sees on your trip, it’ll be you and your betrothed that tisks at juvenile travellers.
