Is this the worst travel ad ever or pure genius?

Yesterday we reported on what could potentially be the best travel video ever. Today we're sharing what just might be the worst. Or is it?

Yesterday we reported on what could potentially be the best travel video ever. Today we’re sharing what just might be the worst. Or is it?

Regardless of your immediate point of view, this ad from Scottish Travel Agency – Thorne Travel has certainly got people talking all over the world with an incredible 820k views on YouTube and some serious viral action around the web.

From the cheesy rave music and graphics, to the very Virgin esque walk ons in tight dresses and the quality of the supporting talent. It feels a lot like a 90’s megamix of everything you remember from the power decade. And it’s brilliant.

There’s a teen dance troupé, a cruise ship captain, plenty of spinning holiday dream transformations and even an appearance from Mickey and Minnie making a young kids day. To end on an all mighty high, there’s even a ticker tape crescendo.

It is in short, an epic masterpiece of viral goodness. Fun, authentic, uniquely creative and full of surprises. It may not win any awards, but it probably should for pure cost investment versus ad effectiveness.

Already Shona Thorne, manager of Thorne Travel, said she has seen a 110 per cent increase in bookings. Ms Thorne said demand has been worldwide – including from across the UK, the US and even here in Australia – since the video, dubbed ‘so bad it’s good’, was published.

“With our pink uniforms, we look a bit like the Virgin Airways girls, only a bit bigger, with a bit more attitude, and a bit more real,”

Ms Thorne told UK paper – MailOnline Travel

To the Thorne Travel Group – I salute you. And I can’t wait to see the follow up.
