Historically, cats and dogs haven’t had the best reputation for getting along. But travelling has a way of smashing boundaries and bringing people – and, in this case – cats and dogs closer together.
Meet Luigi the cat and Bandito the pug. This cute little couple have shown that love extends beyond traditional boundaries.
Together with their owners Sebastian, 32, from the UK, and partner Finn, 27, from Norway, these furry adventure-seekers have travelled more than most, including – get this – the 800-kilometre long Camino de Santiago in Spain!
They literally walked the historic pilgrimage route, one paw at a time.
Well, that’s not entirely true. Sebastian and Finn splashed out on a cool, Dutch-designed doggy stroller for the epic hike, allowing the intrepid little travellers to rest periodically.
And boy did they dig their new pad:
“They genuinely loved it. By the time we had sold everything to fund the trip they were comfortable in the trolley and tent, they were and still are inseparable.”
Sebastian, talking to MailOnline Travel.
Before tackling the Camino de Santiago, Sebastian and Finn, who live in Marbella on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, took Luigi and Bandito on a series of shorter trips around the Iberian Peninsula, including the Sierra Nevada, Sierra de las Nieves, Parc Natural del Garraf and Montserrat.
Since beginning their travels, the cute couple have racked up a pretty big following on Instagram too, posting photos of themselves riding on backpacks and walking through stunning Spanish scenery. They currently have over 28k fans from around the world following their travels.
But how do they get along when on the road? Surely travelling together for any stretch of time is apt to test even the most secure friendships?
Well, according to Sebastian, the pug and cat get along just fine:
“They love each other and are constantly bugging one another and playing tricks.”
Aw.
And it looks like the good times will continue to roll, with the pet owners keen to continue their travels.
“We live in an amazing area of mountains and forests, although it’s hard to go in the summer with the heat. We take the boys out in the trolley because we don’t want them to lose the trust they have in it.”
But for now, they’re one big happy family.
