There are some legendary sunset destinations around the world but one Aussie location has been named the world’s best spot for watching the sun set in a new study.
Taking light pollution, traveller blog recommendations and Instagram post data into account, luggage storage specialist Bounce listed the top 10 sunset spots worldwide.
It’s no surprise Australia’s own Uluṟu came out on top: the famous monolith is famous for its changing colours – from red to orange to purple – as the sun sets.

With minimal light pollution, it’s also a top stargazing spot where you can see the Field of Light installation and the new Wintjiri Wiru drone experience.
Uluṟu beat out the likes of the Maldives (2), Santorini (4) and Bali (7), all of which inspired thousands of Instagram posts. Bali was the clear winner with 184,848 Insta posts of its magical sunsets followed by Santorini with 160,377 posts.

When it came to blog recommendations, Santorini was a fave followed by the Grand Canyon and Key West in the US.
Asia was an overall winner with Angkor Wat (5), Bali (7) and Boracay (9) in the Philippines making the list.

Other bucket-list destinations that made the top 10 include the world-famous Serengeti sunsets (8) and Haleakalā volcano (3) on Maui.
