Sydney has dominated a list of top 10 attractions in the South Pacific with Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour and Sydney Harbour Bridge in the top five as voted in Tripadvisor’s 2023 Travellers’ Choice Awards of the Best of the Best Things to Do.
Sydney Opera House was Tripadvisor’s number-one attraction in the South Pacific followed by Perth’s Kings Park & Botanic Garden (2), Sydney Harbour (3) and Sydney Harbour Bridge (5).
The Opera House also forms one of the eye-catching centrepieces at the annual Vivid Sydney event that lit up the city in a night-time spectacular recently.
Rounding out the top 10 from Australia are Brisbane’s South Bank Parklands (6), Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria (7) and Mt Wellington (7) and Convict Penitentiary Chapel Historic Site (9) in Hobart.
When it comes to South Pacific experiences, ABC Snorkel Charters Port Douglas was runner-up to Ziplining Forest Adventure – The Original Canopy Tour Rotorua.
ABC Snorkel Charters Port Douglas was also the top experience in Australia and the sixth-best Snorkelling & Water Sports experience globally.
The 12-person experience includes a full day out on the Great Barrier Reef, exploring some of the more remote snorkelling spots. And, with one instructor for every six participants, it promises a truly personalised experience.

Queensland and WA scooped the other top-ranking Aussie tours – Margaret River Wine Adventure (4), Swim with Whale Sharks in the Ningaloo Reef (5), Full-Day 1770 Tour by LARC Amphibious Vehicle (9) and Three-Quarter Day Hervey Bay Premium Whale Watching Cruise (10).
A new sub-category for 2023, Family-Friendly Experiences, highlights the best days out globally for kids and parents with the Aussie experience, Pirate Cruise in Mandurah, making the 12th spot worldwide.
The Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Things to Do Awards is compiled from Tripadvisor reviews and ratings submitted by millions of travellers worldwide over a 12-month period from 1 May 2022 to 31 April 2023.
