Collette Tours has introduced 29 new small-group tours to its portfolio, offering a total of 44 small-group Explorations to meet overwhelming customer demand for what it says is “a more intimate and in-depth style of travel.”

Three of the Explorations tours on the list are brand-new additions for 2022 and “are perfectly paced for Australian travellers”, Collette Australia head of marketing James Hewlett said, reflecting the company’s regional touring emphasis to see an area in more depth.

The top six Exploration tours for 2022 based on bookings include: Japan Past & Present (new), Exploring South Africa, Vic Falls & Botswana, Italy’s Treasures, Northern Lights of Finland, Sicily & Isles (new) and Alaska’s Northern Lights (new).

On Collette Explorations tours, guests travel in small groups of just 14 to 24 people, staying in 4-star or higher hotels/accommodation that reflect local culture or immersive experiences (think an igloo hotel under the aurora borealis or a camping experience in the Sahara Desert)  and enjoying authentic, regional cuisine, such as hands-on cooking lessons in the likes of Umbria, Italy.

Collette president and chief brand officer Jaclyn Leibl-Cote said small-group travel was the fastest-growing travel style in the global tour operator’s travel and tour offerings.

“Of the 50 new tours launched by Collette in the last year, 60 per cent are small-group Explorations tours.”

The launch follows the recent two-day Collette Travel Forum held at Crystalbrook Flynn Resort in Cairns from 18-20 May 2022, with travel industry delegates collectively discussing how to bounce back from an incredibly challenging two and a half years for the industry globally.
