Aussie holidaymakers are overly eager for Europe getaways with 78 per cent of all Trafalgar trip bookings this year for European destinations, particularly Italy, Britain and Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Morocco, France, Scandinavia, Germany and Netherlands.
According to the latest customer data, Trafalgar saw a massive 1,087 per cent spike in Europe bookings from April to June compared to January to March this year.
The global travel company is also seeing a shorter window between booking and departure with September 2022 becoming one of the most popular months to travel.
One-third of current Trafalgar bookings are set to arrive in Europe in September and there is a much shorter lead time compared to previous months with travellers booking two months in advance rather than six months out.
The new data reveals that Australian travellers are keen to depart sooner rather than later, signalling the nation’s renewed confidence in overseas travel.
Trafalgar Australia and New Zealand Managing Director Toni Ambler said: “There is no doubt Aussies are keen to get out there and explore and we are seeing a shorter window between booking and travelling, and September is shaping up to be one of the most popular times to travel.”
Trafalgar Travel Director Ellen Potters said September is outside the peak travel season in Europe with great weather and fewer crowds.
“There is no better time to travel than the late European summer,” she said.
“Whether you dream of strolling the charming French countryside or joining the locals for a beer fest in Germany, there are endless pinch-me moments awaiting spontaneous travellers who book that last-minute trip for September.”
Trafalgar is offering 10 per cent off September itineraries until 28 July 2022, including trips to Europe, Great Britain, Asia, Canada and the US.
