From Haute Couturier Ettore Bilotta, to Vivienne Westwood and design legend, Christian Lacroix – these are the most stylish cabin crews in the skies.

1. Etihad

In 2014 Etihad Airways unveiled its brand new uniforms at a spectacular fashion show in Abu Dhabi ‘paving the way for a new age of glamorous and sophisticated flying’.

Designed by Italian Haute Couturier Ettore Bilotta at his atelier in Milan, the new uniform represents timeless sophistication, glamour and elegance.

The colour palette is particularly chic, incorporating regal purple accents with a timeless burgundy tweed.

2. Virgin Atlantic

Both Vivienne Westwood and Virgin have always been known to push the boundaries and their collaboration for the new uniform is no exception.

It is clear from the designs that Westwood has put her stamp on the new pieces, mixing the ornate silhouettes she is famous for with traditional British heritage. The double-breasted ‘drape coat,’ which gathers at the waist and offers a feminine silhouette thanks to its oversized collar, is another hero design among the new garments.

For the men, a sharp Saville Row-inspired three-piece suit has been crafted in a deep, burgundy wool.

The contemporary style still contains a nod to Westwood’s classic aesthetic in a subtly striped button down with British collar and her signature Oxford shoe.

3. Air France

Air France and Christian Lacroix seem to be a natural fit, and the styling is inherently French. Stylish, sophisticated, with a hint of fun, the airline uniform feels like it’s been taken out of the Jetset era and plunged into the modern world.

There are a variety of outfits, all in the navy blue family, with hints of red dotted through, we do love the oversized red bow on the pale blue outfit about, it really sums up the stereotypes we all associate with Parisian style, playing with that stereotype, and making it work in it’s own right.

4. Aeroflot

For many years, Aeroflot haven’t exactly been the epitome of style, sophistication or glamour. But all that changed when in 2013 the Russian carrier launched their fabulous new, retro-inspired uniform and in their new bold orange-red outfits, the crews really stand out from the crowd.

Female crew now sport iconic hats and white gloves, harking back once again to the Jet-set era; with wing-collared shirts and orange-red suit jackets to complete the look. Meanwhile, male stewards are kitted out in a stylish dark-blue suit.

The uniform is designed by Russians Yulia Bunakova and Yevgeny Khokhlow.
