The dreamlike wonders of Western Australia have never been more accessible to Victorian and eastern States travellers, with the exciting announcement of direct flights from Melbourne to Exmouth / Warnangoora. As the gateway to Ningaloo Reef / Nyinggulu, the world’s largest fringing coral reef, Exmouth is home to some otherworldly adventures – under, on or by the Indian Ocean.
Launching 30th April 2023, Qantas will fly non-stop from Melbourne Tullamarine to Learmonth Airport in Exmouth.
Departing Thursdays and Sundays, the Qantas Boeing 737 flight takes around five hours – saving travellers more than three hours compared to flying via Perth / Boorloo. Less time in the air means more time for wildlife, wilderness and aquatic adventures… a win for everyone!
Ningaloo Reef is simply unmissable

With 18,000 seats available across the season (April to October), there’s 9,000 opportunities for Victorians and eastern States travellers to step outside of the everyday and dive into another world of dreamy underwater seascapes.
Spanning 300 kilometres, Ningaloo Reef is one of the most biologically diverse marine environments on Earth, drawing visitors from around the world to swim with the 200 species of colourful coral and 500 species of fish that call it home.
Home to exhilarating marine adventures

The new direct service is giving travellers faster and easier access to swimming with whale sharks – Ningaloo’s most gentle residents – as well as humpback whale watching and swimming tours, and snorkelling with acrobatic manta rays.
Award-winning Ningaloo Discovery operates two 60-foot luxury catamarans for their whale shark and humpback whale swim trips, as well as their manta ray snorkelling adventures.
Depending on the season, Ningaloo Whale Shark ‘n’ Dive offer popular whale shark swims, humpback swims and humpback whale watching cruises (including a laid-back sunset option).
View the reef from above the water and below, on a fun-filled excursion with Ningaloo Glass Bottom Boat. Their custom boats are stocked with everything needed, including prescription snorkels.
Admire and traverse otherworldly landscapes
The new direct service from Melbourne to Exmouth places travellers right into the heart of otherworldly landscapes, providing plenty of reason to look beyond aquatic adventures. From the rugged red cliffs of Cape Range National Park, to the nearby coastal paradise of Coral Bay, it’s worth renting a car to explore the region or hopping on a tour.
For guided full- and half-day adventure safaris through Cape Range National Park, book a trip with Ningaloo Safari Tours. Get off-road on their Eastern Range tour, or choose their water-based Top of the Range or Yardie Creek tours.

Cape Range National Park’s trekking season runs from April to November. Trek Ningaloo runs immersive single- and multi-day tours to showcase the best of this incredible landscape.
For impressive marine eco-tours in Coral Bay, join Coral Bay Eco Tours. Swim with manta rays, experience the awe of colourful coral and snorkel crystal-clear waters. They even have a fab glass-bottom eco turtle boat tour.
