Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa provides a true ‘Aloha’ spirit and the award-winning spa, incredible restaurants and newly renovated hotel rooms makes it the perfect destination to explore the true Hawaiian hospitality.
1. The Rooms
The hotel has recently undergone an extensive renovation project and the new hotel rooms are bright, fresh and spacious. The bathrooms in particular are incredibly spacious and also feature modern high-tech Japanese loos, hair-dryer and high quality amenities from the Na Ho’ola Spa.
The hotel rooms have balconies offering a stunning view and as seen on the postcard the two towers are perfectly positioned right next to the world-famous Waikiki beach.
2. The Regency Club Lounge
Located in the Diamond Head Tower on the 3rd floor, The Regency Club Lounge is offering a peaceful place to enjoy breakfast, drinks and snacks whilst checking your emails at the workstation or reading the newspaper.
The breakfast is served between 6am – 10am followed by mid-day snack from 10.30am- 3pm and Hors D’Oeuvres from 5pm-7pm. Dessert is served between 7pm to 9pm.
3. The Japengo Restaurant
For avid foodies like myself it was such a pleasant surprise to find this gem of a restaurant situated on the third floor.
Not only was the menu and service amazing, the food experience itself was incredible with fresh produce locally sourced from farmers, dairies and ranches showcasing the best from the Hawaii regional cuisine.
Not too surprisingly Japengo has taken home an OpenTable’s Diner’s Choice Awards and for anyone who’s looking for an extraordinary dining experience the cosy restaurant is conveniently located on 2424 Kalakaua Avenue.
If you are looking for the perfect pudding make sure you try the coconut creme brule.
4. The award-winning Na Ho’ola Spa
After a long-haul flight there’s nothing better than a visit to the spa. The Na Ho’ola Spa offers a range of treatments and the traditional Hawaiian massage Lomi Lomi will leave both your mind and body feeling totally relaxed.
The traditional massage starts with a Hawaiian chant focusing on the four corners of the body including the shoulders, and hips since the vital organs of the body are found between them.
If you visit the spa in the evening you will be able to relax on one of the spa beds overlooking the ocean whilst watching the incredible sunset.
The staff was incredibly friendly and when I realised I had forgot a necklace in one of the robes the staff managed to locate it by contacting the laundry company and kindly sent it back to me in once I was back in Australia.
5. The Kai Coffee Shop
Coffee snobs will be pleased to know that on the ground floor of the Hyatt Regency building there’s a coffee shop Kai Coffee serving up good quality lattes, and to cater to fussy Aussies they’ve even added Flat White to the menu.
“We love Australians, they are so easy going and they always pop by for a coffee”
Sam Suiter, Owner, Kai Coffee
Who should book this hotel?
Incredibly popular among Australian travellers this hotel is suitable to both families, young and older couples. During my stay I met several younger Australian honeymooners who had an absolute blast enjoying cocktails at SWIM where guests can stay for the sunset and enjoy live entertainment most evenings.
This a perfect hotel for holidaymakers who are looking for a few late night drinks and a laugh. There’s even a bartender who is running cocktail-classes for those who wants to learn how to make their own Mai Tai.
