Carnival Cruise Line is dipping its toes into the sober-curious trend with the introduction of a non-alcoholic beverage package featuring alcohol-free cocktails, wine and beer alongside soft drinks, smoothies and coffee creations on all ships.
The cruise company says the move is due to demand from travelling teetotallers and sober-curious cruisers who want more variety, value and options when they cruise.
The CHEERS! Zero Proof package is suitable for all ages; however, some items, such as alcohol-free beer, wine and mocktails, may carry a restriction of 18 and older.
Options include zero-proof cocktails, frozen drinks, premium coffees and teas, smoothies and milkshakes, energy drinks, bottled water (still and sparkling), soft drinks and juices.
Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy said: “CHEERS! Zero Proof is a direct response to what we’ve heard from our guests who want a comprehensive non-alcoholic drink package when they cruise.”
“This new package brings together the abundance of our alcohol-free refreshments with the flexibility and ease that our guests already enjoy with our other beverage packages.”
Sober-curious cruisers now on board
The sober-curious movement is taking off, particularly among Gen Z travellers, with a report showing young Aussies are limiting their alcohol consumption while travelling.
It also comes as many Aussie travellers increasingly seek more meaningful experiences and engagement while travelling.
The CHEERS! Zero Proof package is now available for pre-cruise purchase online from AUD$39.99 per person per day (or from AUD$44.99 per person per day on board in the coming weeks), and complements existing alcoholic options such as Carnival’s CHEERS! and Bottomless Bubbles beverage packages.
