Sydney’s best authentic pork buns are set to arrive in Pitt Street in September when renowned traditional Chinese restaurant New Shanghai opens its first Sydney CBD restaurant in Westfield Sydney.
Known for its rich history and authenticity, the new restaurant will be handcrafting traditional Shanghainese delicacies reminiscent of the vibrant streets of Longtang.
With the unique and highly coveted Pan Fried Pork Bun being at the centre of New Shanghai’s authentic offering – traditional and decadent fluffy dough, lightly chard on the bottom encasing a mouth-watering tender pork filling swimming in a delicate and flavoursome broth.
The restaurant boasts consumer favourites such as Xiao Long Bao, prawn wontons tossed in chilli oil, peanut and sesame sauce, and a range of dumplings, alongside mouth-watering traditional Shanghai dishes.
Including a sweet and sour crispy beef affectionately dubbed Rainbow Beef, eel with garlic and ginger, crispy shell prawns with a sweet Shanghai sauce and slow braised pork belly with a sweetened Shanghai soy sauce.
As a family owned and operated business, New Shanghai captures the heart of Chinese cuisine, with every dish on the menu created using traditional flavours and techniques that have been passed down through the generations of the family, to now be recreated on your plate.
The entire menu boasts bold Shanghai flavours and is hand crafted using a keen eye for detail. Every bun produced has more than 30 folds in the dough, all created by hand by the New Shanghai dumpling masters on display for live theatre while dining.
The CBD eatery will be fully licensed and will feature New Shanghai’s signature food and wine pairing menu; a truly unique creation that pairs different authentic dishes with hand picked wines from Sydney’s own Glenn Caldwell from Robert Oatley Wines.
New Shanghai has already created a strong culinary reputation with restaurants located in Melbourne, Brisbane, Newcastle and four other locations throughout Sydney.
Opening in September, New Shanghai Sydney will be open seven days a week.
