Travel, food and beverage festival Tasting Australia presented by Journey Beyond has announced extra events to its multi-course program, highlighting even more South Australian experiences for visitors to savour from 2–11 May 2025.
Alongside 15 food vendors in Tasting Australia’s Town Square festival hub in Adelaide, the newly announced The Ghan Experience will showcase Journey Beyond’s iconic 95-year-old rail trip within a train carriage-themed activation.
Visitors will be immersed in a sensory experience with the sights, sounds and scents of this famed journey, capturing the onboard journey on The Ghan and insights into the off-train experiences on offer.

These include the Outback SA scenery, a sunrise in Marla, the opal-mining town of Cooper Pedy, the Kanku Breakaways and much more.
Journey Beyond Executive General Manager – Marketing Justine Lally said the first-person perspective aims to evoke the experience of embarking on this rail adventure.

“Many are curious about what extended train travel and life on board The Ghan is like and whether it’s right for them. This is a chance for visitors to experience it firsthand before making the decision to book,” she said.
“We encourage you to explore The Ghan Experience and escape the hustle of the city to an adventure on board The Ghan.”

Tasting Australia Airlines is another travel-themed event, exploring the Murray River or Northern Flinders Ranges and enjoying meals inspired by regional produce from leading chefs.
Other new additions include a table styling masterclass and pasta-cooking class with Australian homewares brand In the Roundhouse and Barossa-based Casa Carboni, the Italian-inspired, family-style Sunday Supper Club in Town Square and Lawn Bowls with Adelaide chef Justin James (ex-Restaurant Botanic) and others at the Sturt Bowling Club.

Justin James will also host an exclusive, intimate dinner party at a secret location, offering 16 diners the rare opportunity to engage with the chef firsthand as he presents his seasonal fine dining creations.
Pre-dinner event Aperitivo Hour is also new to the Tasting Australia program, a series of collaborations between bars and chefs showcasing snacks and drinks for $50.
