It being World Compliment Day and all, we thought we’d tell you all the reasons why you should pick up the phone, or send an email to someone in your industry and tell them what you like about their work.
Just don’t make your compliment awkward like these ones…

Okay, so here are the reasons.
We’re all in this together.

As travel agents, we’re part of a community that crosses state and international borders.
And as a community, we have many commonalities, including hating Webjet (just joking).
But seriously, the more we stick together, the stronger we are, and the more friends we can acquire on Facebook.
You never know when you might work with them.

The travel industry is a small, incestuous industry, and people move around – a lot.
This means that your current competitor can turn out to be you next colleague.
Loving is easier than hating.

Holding a grudge only hurts you.
It will make you feel good.

According to the scientific literature, people who express their gratitude to others and show compassion are likely to receive a little serotonin boost.
So by all means, be completely selfish and tell someone how good they are.
They may be the next friend you need at an awkward work function.

Is there anything more painful than showing up at a work function and not knowing a soul?
Probably, but things would be far less painful if you knew someone. Agreed?
Well, give someone a compliment today and the next time you’re scanning the room for recognisable faces, you may just find a friend or two…
