Visitors will soon be able to marvel at the original splendour of ancient Rome from the comfort of a tourist bus whose windows offer a glimpse 2,000 years into the past thanks to virtual reality and 3D technology.
The immersive project aboard an electric bus, created by Italian company Invisible cities with the help of local authorities and the Colosseum Archaeological Park, is set to open to the public on Thursday 23 June 2022.
The idea was born from recreating what Rome used to be like by creating a viewfinder as big as a bus that would allow everyone to share the experience together” Giorgio Capaci, Invisible Cities administrator, said during the project’s presentation Tuesday.
During the half-hour tour, OLED screens lining the interior of the vehicle will allow you to see full-colour projections of the most important monuments of imperial Rome, such as the Imperial Forums, the Colosseum, the Circus Maximus and the Theater of Marcellus.
The scenes are brought to life with the inclusion of Ancient Romans going about their daily business.
