How Many Travel Agents Does It Take To Organise a Royal Tour?

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrapped up an eight day royal tour of Canada on Saturday, which reportedly took six months of planning and involved multiple government agencies.

We’re not entirely sure how many Travel Agents were involved in the planning of this, but word on the street is that it took organisations working in collaboration with other organisations half a year to put together a Canadian royal tour for Prince William and Kate Middleton, plus their little kiddies.

That’s right: half-a-freaking-year!

brule-omg

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge embarked on their Canadian adventure from 24 September to 1 October, and it took them pretty much all over British Colombia and the Yukon.

Throughout the tour, the royal couple, along with children Prince George (3) and Princess Charlotte (16 months), attended dozens of meet-and-greets, opened ceremony after ceremony, and participated in tons of activities, such as a canoe trip from Skidegate Landing to Haida Heritage Centre and Museum in Haida Gwaii, a blessing from an elder and welcome dance by the Dakhká Khwáan Dancers, and a Boat tour of McLoughlin Bay.

The royal couple also met with Syrian refugees, people battling addictions, and dozens of local dignitaries.

The itinerary was reportedly about as jam-packed as your average famil, with just a single afternoon reserved for free time.

Sound familiar?!

Thankfully, everything went to plan, except that some heads of state (ahem, we’re looking your way Canadian PM Justin Trudeau) were left hanging by the young Prince George who refused to take the bait on a high five! #awkward

According to a Canadian government spokesperson, the royal tour was put together by the governments of Yukon and British Columbia – as well as Kensington Palace – over the course of half a year.

To pull if off, the collaborating parties had to make sure everything ran on time and as planned, plus ensure that safety was always guaranteed – made possible thanks to a team of security guards from Scotland Yard who accompanied the royals on their Canadian campaign.

But let’s bring this back to you guys: Can you imagine if YOU were in charge of this royal itinerary?

You’d need to take your most complicated itinerary and most VIP clients and times it by a billion to get a sense of the responsibility and degree of planning involved in such a tour.

Still, just think of those commissions… #TotesWorthIt
