You best dig out that little red ‘M’ hat you wore to your last fancy dress party, because Universal Studios Hollywood has announced the long-awaited news that Super Nintendo World will be opening in 2023, complete with an augmented reality Mario Kart experience.
Gamers and theme park aficionados; get ready to have your minds blown!
Universal Studios Hollywood has finally announced the opening of Super Nintendo World in the U.S.
Last year, the first Nintendo-style theme park made its debut at a Universal Studios location in Osaka, Japan, to rave consumer and critical reviews.
Since then, fans from all over the world have been on the edge of their seats waiting for the announcement confirming when the theme park would be opening Stateside.
That wait is over.
The U.S. debut of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD at Universal Studios Hollywood will transport theme park guests and Nintendo fans into the world of Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach to become part of their compelling universe.
“The immersive land will be a visual spectacle of vibrant colors and architectural ingenuity located within a newly expanded area of the theme park, featuring a groundbreaking ride and interactive areas, to be enjoyed by the whole family,” Universal said in a statement.
“Themed shopping and dining will enhance the entire experience.”

The park will wow guests with rides such as a thrilling augmented reality Mario Kart experience and a more family-friendly, slower-paced ride Yoshi’s Adventure train ride.
A Donkey Kong-themed area is scheduled to arrive in 2024.

Our little pal Mario first appeared in the Super Mario Bros game in 1985 for Nintendo’s NES console.
Since then, he’s stolen many hearts, collected many coins, and saved Princess Peach from those mean-looking turtles many times.
He’s even branched out into football, golf, and racing!
Super Nintendo World is also set to open in Orlando in 2025, to align with the park’s Epic Universe opening.
