Australian small-group touring specialist Outback Spirit had bumper sales for its 2023 Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre season with the initial program sold out, thanks to a rare phenomenon that has sparked interest with keen travellers.
On average, South Australia’s Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre has a small flood every three years, only filling four times each century.
This year is extra-special as floodwater from northwest Queensland in May moves towards the inland salt pan, extending the network of channels, streams and floodplains and attracting wildlife.
Due to demand, Outback Spirit has added five extra departures for the seven-day Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre & Wilpena Pound Adventure and two departures for the six-day Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre Spectacular small-group tours.
The Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre & Wilpena Pound Adventure will now run until mid-September 2023 with new tour departures from Adelaide on 20 and 31 August and 4, 13 and 18 September.
The Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre Spectacular departs on the 25 August and 7 September 2023.
Guests can witness the stunning views from 5-star, all-terrain Mercedes-Benz luxury coaches and modern aircraft.
