The popular Hong Kong Peak Tram has reopened after 14 months, ascending the steep Peak again with a new glow-up that includes a spiffy coat of classic green paint, redesigned tramcar, terminus ushers and upgraded facilities.
Asia’s oldest funicular railway and must-do Hong Kong attraction is set to transport visitors on the ride to the Peak once again for 360-degree views of Victoria Harbour and the stunning outdoor landscape.
The new Peak Tram is clad in classic ‘Peak Tram Green’ in a nod to its heritage and earlier generations of 20th-century tramcars.
It’s had a 75 per cent increase in capacity to now carry 210 passengers plus larger windows for an unobstructed, panoramic view of Hong Kong’s world-famous skyline.
In addition to the modern design of the tramcar, the tram termini have been refurbished, offering an engaging and entertaining experience to passengers with five engagement zones.
The added attractions include the Eye of Infinity, a 10m-high sculpture with an ever-changing light display; Go Wild At The Peak, which showcases the Peak’s diverse wildlife in a wraparound, full-immersion video experience; and the history of the Peak Tram can be seen at The Beating Heart, An Icon is Born, and Once Upon a Tram.
The news of the revamped Peak Tram comes as Hong Kong starts to relax its stringent COVID testing and hotel quarantine requirements.
