1. A windmill in the English countryside
You can rest out this gorgeous windmill home for your next adventure in the UK. This unique building offers views over the fields and distant hills as well as an inviting interior.
2. The most American home ever
Nestled within America’s oldest residential streets, this home is just about as star spangled awesome as it gets. Built in 1789, the home is decked with colonia era patriotism – perfect to prepare you for your stay in the nation’s first capital.
3. A Mediterranean yacht
For a mere $1000 a night, you and your friends can cruise around the islands of Spain on board this impressive yacht. With room enough for 6, at least you can split the costs!
4. Glamping in a vintage caravan
Bring your bellbottoms along and kick back in this 1964 Kenskill camper in California, renovated and restored to bring you a mix of psychedelic colours and modern amenities.
This unique home in Valparaiso, Chile is made fully out of stone and wood and looks like an upside down boat. It’s also eco-friendly and runs on solar power and with quick access to a beach and fresh water lagoon, is sure to keep you in touch with nature.
6. Be king (or queen) of your very own castle
Are 15 bedrooms enough for you and your friends? How about 15 acres in rural northern England? If so, then rent your very own castle for a Victorian style getaway (servants not included).
7. Traditional Korean living
Located in Bukchon, an area of protected “hanok,” or traditional Korean houses in Seoul, you’ll find this humble, yet beautiful home. Built in the 1930s, the hanok offers a peaceful and centrally located starting point for exploring some of the city’s biggest attractions.
8. In a treehouse
Perched in an ash tree with sweeping sea and countryside views, this little tree houseoffers a cozy place to rest your head. From your stop in the trees, take in the birds-eye views of the bay and sunset over the orchid fields.
9. In a historic Coast Guard Lighthouse
For your next New England jaunt, take in the fresh sea air in your very own lighthouse. Formerly a US Coast Guard lighthouse, this home is attached to a charming three-bedroom home overlooking the sea.
10. Floating in a tree orb
Think hammock but higher. Snuggle up in this orb hanging above the French forest or relax in the surrounding net and enjoy the great outdoors. Just make sure to go to the bathroom before you go to bed. It’s back on the ground inside a cabin.
11. Under the stars (but still indoors)
Stargazers – you’ll want to pay attention to this one! In Chile, you can spend a night in one of the world’s seven astronomic hotels (the only one in the Southern Hemisphere). Here, you can stargaze from the comfort of your bed with a retractable roof above you. Sign me up!
12. In a refurbished school
You may not like thinking about school when you’re on holiday, but this home in the Netherlands will have you signing up for extra courses. It’s got four bedrooms, its own private cinema and even a few old school desks to keep the schoolhouse memories alive.
13. In Tokyo’s capsule tower
Japan has a knack for perfecting the unusual, so it’s not surprise that’s where you’ll find this capsule tower. Each room has a variety of space-saving compartments and a submarine-esque window overlooking Tokyo’s famous Ginza neighbourhood.
14. Live like a hobbit
Channel your inner Lord of the Rings fandom and stay in this tiny but memorable grass-roofed hobbit hut in California. Its made from Adobe bricks and its living roof is used to make wheat grass juice.
15. Soak up the sun in your own Spanish villa
Just a short drive from Barcelona, you can rent out this beautiful five-bedroom villa. Designed over three different levels, the home features a swimming pool, Jacuzzi and impressive views.
16. In a Balinese bamboo house
Set within a river valley along Bali’s sacred Ayung River, this all bamboo house is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. Even the roof is made out of bamboo, covering four floors of luxurious rooms. Here, you’ll find plenty of sunshine and a plunge pool to cool you off.
Enjoy the silence of the desert as well as private hiking trails, and unmatched views of the starry skies at this boulder house. Although the bedrooms are carved out of rock, the outdoor courtyards and artist-designed interiors lead us to believe that it’s probably pretty comfortable!
