The classy and quirky Ovolo brand has always caught my eye, so on my way back from a road trip up the QLD coast, I jumped at the chance to experience Ovolo The Valley, Brisbane, for myself.
The people behind Ovolo seem to always be coming up with cool environmental initiatives, innovative ideas, and playful marketing campaigns – which I love – not to mention, each Ovolo hotel seems to be uniquely beautiful and showcase captivating artwork and decor.
Located right in the heart of Brisbane, Ovolo The Valley is the perfect spot to get out and explore the city. Or, more specifically, the cultural hub of Fortidude Valley.
The design of the Ovolo The Valley celebrates the famous Valley’s eclectic mix of rich colour, social diversity, and whimsical nature. It really is a vibrant, yet private, oasis right in the thick of Brissie’s concrete jungle.

Check-in & beyond
As soon as we walked through the doors of Ovolo The Valley, we were instantly transported to a funky tropical paradise.
The tunes were pumping and the art was fabulous; bright and bohemian, with Instagrammable views at every turn.
We were greeted by a friendly and very welcoming member of staff who checked us in and gave us the lo-down, and gave us a complimentary cold bevvy, which was just what we needed after a long drive with no air conditioning!
The rooms
We stayed in a Large Spa Room, which was great.
The room was super spacious, complete with Amazon’s Alexa, an amazing desk area (perfect for on-the-road writing!) and a free, fully stocked minibar.
YES. You read that correctly. A fully stocked minibar, that in included in your room rate! As well as that, there was a wonderful selection of tea and coffee, plus a loot bag, with delicious late night treats!
The spa bath was an absolute dream and the bed was literally like sleeping on a cloud.
Ovolo go above and beyond to make your stay faultless and the cleanliness of the rooms, and the entire hotel in fact, was impeccable.
Food & drink
Even after totally pigging out on the free minibar and loot bar snacks, we were ready for breakfast and it hit just the spot.
Continental breakfast for two is included in the room rate, but if you’d like to upgrade to something off the menu, this is available for an extra $10 per person.
The menu covered all bases and dietary allergies/preferences.
We shared two dishes off the breakfast menu; the fancy avo on toast and the acai fruit and muesli bowl.
Both were extremely tasty and served promptly, with an Ovolo smile. (Through an OC/DC mask – of course).
Facilities
For a little retreat, the rooftop pool and lounge area is a must.
Views from the rooftop are pretty impressive, so it’s the perfect place to catch some rays and take a refreshing dip, amidst the bustling city life.
Ovolo The Valley also offers a fully-equipped 24-hour gym, but it’s currently closed due to COVID-19 health and safety requirements.
If you need to freshen up your suitcase, self-service laundry is also available.
The verdict
I wish we had stayed for more than one nights, as I felt like we only scratched the surface with this hotel and the spirited destination of The Valley.
This hotel is top-notch, there isn’t a thing that Ovolo haven’t thought about.
My verdict is five stars. I absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone who’s after an exceptional hotel experience, with environmentally conscious practices, off the wall designs, and perks left, right and centre.
Oh, and if there’s a best hotel artwork award out there somewhere, we need to get it framed and put it on the wall of Ovolo The Valley, ASAP.

Located in the heart of Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, Ovolo is just a short walk away from live music venues, rooftop cocktail lounges, art galleries or relaxing cafes.
Room prices start at just under $200 a night and include a welcome drink, in-room treats and breakfast.
If you find yourself in Brisbane, Ovolo is a solid choice to base yourself.
