You’ve heard of Prestige Safaris and their incredible African lodges and hotels. If you love luxury travel, you’ll want to read on.

You’ve heard of Prestige Safaris and their incredible African lodges and hotels. But do you know about the Prestige Collection featuring incredible Maldives properties – one with the very first skydive dropzone – and a fab Indian Ocean tour operator? If you love luxury travel, you’ll want to read on.

If you’ve ever looked at – or been to – any game drives and lodges in Africa, you’ve heard of Prestige Safaris. For over 10 years, this Sydney and Melbourne-based business has been showcasing luxury lodges and hotels across Africa.

What you may not have heard, however, is that they have expanded their offering to include Prestige Collection. We caught up with founder and MD Adam Atkin to discover more.

The Indian Ocean “a natural fit”

While not maybe in the original business blueprint, the move to add Prestige Collection to the portfolio a year ago has been positive. Atkin shared, “I wasn’t planning to expand the business; I am still in love with Africa 10 years on! However, Sri Lanka and Maldives operator Travelers Street headhunted me – quite persistently – and I soon agreed that working with providers in the Indian Ocean was a natural fit.

“One year on, and it’s been smooth sailing, thanks to our solid reputation and genuine connections to the places we promote.

Atkins continues, “I speak frequently to every property – and there are many now – and visit each one annually. Both give me valuable insights into what’s happening on the ground, and I hold dear my close relationships with the owners.

“To launch the Prestige Collection with such incredible Maldives properties and the passion from the team at Travelers Street has such an affirming next step for the business.”

Ifuru Island now open

Did you know a brand-spanking new luxury all-inclusive resort opened in the Maldives only three months ago? And not only is it lush, but it’s the only Maldives island where you can skydive! Thrills with the chills, we love it.

This private sanctuary, located on Ifuru Island in the stunning Raa Atoll, has 147 contemporary beach suites and villas, all with sunset views. Guests enjoy six restaurants, four bars, and a boho-vibe Beach Club. On-island facilities include the luxe Xanadu Spa, tennis court, infinity pool, watersports, and 24-hour gym (to balance out that all-inclusive-ness).

With a private airport, access to Ifuru Island is effortless. And if you prefer to jet in over the atolls by parachute, book a tandem skydiving lesson from November to March. For 7-night+ stays, it’s free to take that nail-biting leap!

For other adventures, there’s also dolphin watching, diving with sharks, surfing lessons, stargazing, and cultural experiences.

Fun fact: Ifuru Island’s GM, Rochelle Kilgariff, is Australian. Therefore, she and her team know how to cater to our distinct Aussie traveller quirks!

Everyone welcome at Amilla Maldives

For an enchanting getaway in the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, Amilla Maldives can’t be beaten. With over 70% untouched jungle fringing gorgeous white-sand beaches and one of the Maldives best house reefs, Amilla meets the dictionary definition of paradise.

With 59 over-water, treetop, and beach villas – all with private pools – this is an island eco-getaway that demands relaxation. And probably mild amnesia that you have a boss/bills/back pain (there’s the spa for the latter, of course). There are private residences for groups, too.

We’re especially enamoured with Amilla’s commitment to inclusivity and sustainability (including allergy-friendly meals). Blue Badge Access even crowned them Best International Venue for their efforts. In short, they’re focused on ensuring everyone is welcome.

And, get this, Amillia Maldives GM, Narelle McDougall, is also Australian!
