Sal Salis is one of those dreamy properties that takes a load off whatever pressures you’re under simply by looking at it. Away-from-it-all Ningaloo Reef, stylish safari tents, and a reputation for impeccable service appeal. But did you know that besides rejuvenating mind, body, and soul, Sal Salis has other activities that entice? And you can still make it in 2023!
Picture yourself: you’re swinging from a hammock on the deck of your wilderness tent. The sound of the ocean beckons you in, the Indian Ocean temperatures perfectly set to ‘refresh’.
The soft sand between your toes works like a balm for your entire being, with every step around Sal Salis shedding stress and woe. Swims among the vibrant coral and tropical fish bring you so wonderfully into the present moment.
As you gaze at the contrast of the rich red hues of Cape Range National Park against the shimmering aquamarine hues of Ningaloo / Nyinggulu Reef, you marvel that you once thought this was photoshopped.
Sounds bliss, doesn’t it? Well, good news, bliss is still available at Sal Salis for 2023!
The Sal Salis experience
Spacious, stylish, and understated, the safari tent décor complements the location superbly.
Sal Salis is all-inclusive. Enjoy top-quality regionally sourced chef-prepared meals, along with non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. Ningaloo National Park fees are also included, plus guided wilderness activities, kayaks, SUPs, snorkels, and wetsuits.
So, how best to enjoy your time at Sal Salis? We’ve got six incredible ways, read on!
#6 Immersive walks
With Ningaloo Reef on one side and Cape Range National Park on the other, on-foot adventures appeal as much as water activities.
As your Sal Salis guide leads you on a gorge walk, learn about the delicate ecosystem, the range’s geological history, and Dreamtime mythology. It’s not uncommon to meet black-footed rock wallabies, red kangaroos, and countless birds and lizards as you explore.
As you might expect in a destination far, far away from bright lights and the trappings of cities and towns, stargazing at Sal Salis is out of this world. Or above this world.
Darkness here affords unrivalled views of the Milky Way. The twinkling lights provide the perfect dinner companion (besides whoever you travelled there with, of course).
Later, grab a blanket, hit the hammock, and see who spots the most shooting stars as the night grows long.
#4 Kayak adventures
Go for a different kind of Ningaloo Reef adventure on a Sal Salis kayak. Choose to head out solo or join one of Sal Salis’ complimentary guided kayak tours.
As you paddle, marvel at the brightest turquoise water you’ve probably ever seen against the bold ochre hues of Cape Range. You’ll be hard-pressed to wish you were anywhere else in the world.
If you’re in season, maybe you’ll even see a humpback whale!
#3 Snorkel with 500 fish
Between life-affirming marine mammal excursions, you can also grab a snorkel to explore Ningaloo Reef right from your tent. It’s only 50 metres away.
Look out for the reef’s 500+ fish species, and if you’re lucky, maybe you’ll see a turtle, dugong, reef shark or ray as you swim.
#2 Swim with humpbacks
You most certainly won’t be sweating the small stuff when you’re witnessing the majesty of a humpback whale gliding through the water in front of you. Seeing these gentle giants up close is the perspective shift we could all use.
Sal Salis can organise a humpback whale swim from May to October (with availability remaining for 2023), when around 30,000 migrating humpbacks pass through Ningaloo Marine Park! Weighing up to 40,000 kilograms, humpback whales are gentle, playful, and curious. You’ll be curious, too, as you watch them swim, breach, and sing right in front of you!
#1 Whale shark swims
Ningaloo Reef’s most well-known travellers are the whale sharks that migrate here from mid-March to August. To swim with whale sharks is about as bucket list-y as it gets. Ningaloo Reef is one of the only places in the world where whale sharks come in large numbers!
Large numbers mean great odds at not only seeing them but also being able to plunge into the Indian Ocean to swim with them! In peak season, the success rate of seeing a whale shark is 90%.
Sal Salis is a Journey Beyond offering and there is still availability for 2023 with a range of offers available. Bookings are also open for 2024. Contact the Sal Salis reservations team on 08 9949 1776 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.
