A visit to the Blue Mountains with friends or family during any season will leave you with a lifetime of memories. But did you know it’s also an excellent place for a romantic escape?

If you and you’re plus one are looking to exchange the daily hustle and bustle for a weekend of roses and kisses, here’s the perfect Blue Mountains itinerary that’ll get you there:
1. It’s all about the drive

It’s Friday morning, and I picked up the Ferrari 360 from Fuga Veloce where the owners gave me plenty of hints and tips for the drive up to the mountains. I learnt how to drive the luxury machine and before I knew it, I was on my way. You should have seen the look on my partner’s face. Priceless.

2. The picturesque town of Leura

Leura is the gateway into the Blue Mountains and is only 90mins from Sydney CBD. This charming town not only surprises visitors with the delicious bakeries and antique shops, but it is also home to some luxurious hotels and resorts plus the famous spring Garden Festival that is held early October.
I arrived into Leura around midday, and the streets were buzzing with people as I made my way to Bon Ton. I would not recommend parking the Ferrari in their little parking lot as it’s NOT a Ferrari-friendly driveway. There is plenty of parking on the street, or in the parking lot just across from Bon Ton.
Bon Ton had a crackling fire going and a cozy, intimate dining room overlooking the hub of Leura. I would recommend booking a table because it gets busy with everyone competing for the scones and tea. All very tasty and enjoyable.
A popular shop is Teddy Sinclair. They have a Man Cave section filled with fascinating, manly items and a slightly hidden, secret connecting doorway into a shop that simply has “175” out the front. Love it! This second shop had the female equivalent to the Man Cave, so lots of time was spent in these two (or maybe it should be one) shops.
Note: Must visit the Leura Garage for a coffee as well.
3. Fairmont Resort MGallery by Sofitel

The drive into the resort is the perfect entrance into the charming Jamison Valley. The resort boasts 222 rooms and offers guests absolute luxury. The foyer alone attracts you instantly to the large fireplace as you imagine yourself sitting there enjoying a glass of red with your loved one. This boutique historical property offers panoramic views of the Jamison Valley and even has pet-friendly rooms with a pet bed for your furbaby.
Note: A room starts from $224 per night. Renovations are going on as they are building an ice-skating rink, but this has minimal impact on guests.
3. Echo Point is your goal

The Blue Mountains is riddled with hikes for different levels of ability. I was lucky to be in easy walking distance from the Katoomba Falls round walk. The aim was to try to walk to Echo Point to view the Three Sisters, however being rather inexperienced I got a little lost.
Looking at the map, I mostly followed it, but think I went up at one stage when I should have gone down. I do not regret the journey though, as I had a brilliant time and saw some incredible vistas. If you’re scared of heights, it could be a bit tricky, but if not, you will love it.
4. Scenic World

The drive to Scenic World is equally as adventurous as the walk in the mountains. Curvy corners make driving the Ferrari extra special. You are spoiled for choice here at Scenic World from the Skyway, Walkway, Cableway and Railway.
I chose the Scenic Skyway as the romantic option as you glide over the rainforest and can see everything through the glass floor. The views are insane as you get to see Katoomba Falls, The Three Sisters and Jamison Valley.
Note: Scenic Skyway tickets start from $33 per adult. Scenic Cableway is closed for an upgrade from 01 AUG 18 – 16 SEP 18.
I would have to rate The Blue Mountains in winter as one of the best romantic escapes you could take. The memories created and the experiences I had over the 48 hours were priceless. Being able to travel around in the Ferrari for the entire time made the journey as much fun as the destination.
