Many flyers would agree that business class is all about the seat and everything else is just the icing on the cake. Well, the icing on Cathay Pacific’s Business Class’ cake is outstanding.

Checking in
Check-in at Sydney Airport is quick and easy with a waiting time of less than 15 minutes and the actual check-in taking under 3 minutes.
Cathay Pacific offers a handy online check-in service which gives passengers the option to check-in before arriving at the airport and simply just dropping off their baggage in a separate queue.
Onboard the plane
Cathay Pacific has reverse herringbone seats in business class throughout their longhaul fleet, which simply means fully flat seats with direct aisle access.
Although the airline nailed every single customer touchpoint on this flight I have to say that the seat was the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced. The fully flat bed with a duvet cover and a comfortable pillow made me fall asleep in an instance after the main meal had been served.
The entertainment selection is excellent as well, with the same StudioCX programming Cathay Pacific offers in first class including a great selection of movies, TV shows and documentaries.
The headphones are very soft and comfortable and clears out any surrounding noises. I couldn’t hear the snoring from the gentleman next to me until I took the headphones off a couple of hours later.
The seats are also equipped with USB and power ports which is perfect for when you want to arrive at your destination with a fully charged iPhone.
Staff
Cathay Pacific is renowned for great and consistent service and this flight was no exception.
The members of staff were constantly offering water and drinks and when I asked for Panedol for a splitting headache they were most helpful to make me feel better and organised the painkillers in minutes.
There was a gentleman in front of me who accidentally spilled red wine all over my duvet cover but this was sorted in the most efficient manner and I hardly managed to recall what had actually happened before I was presented with a new duvet cover.
Food and Drinks
After take-off an aperitif is served followed by the four course lunch service.
Each course was served off a trolley with all the options displayed, which was really nice and made selecting from the different food options easier since you could see all the dishes in front of you.
The service was really efficient and the meal tray was cleared straight after the last course was finished freeing up the space to unpack my laptop.
The wine selection was excellent with four premium Beaujolais Crus wines from different appellations.
Amenity Kit
The amenity kit includes; socks, earplugs, dental kit, eye mask, Jurlique lip balm and balancing day care cream as well as a citrus hand cream.
It was a pleasant surprise to find the well-known Australian beauty brand Jurlique’s products in the amenity kit and the hand cream smelled absolutely divine.
The eye mask was very comfortable, soft with an adjustable strap and the dental kit was great.
A bonus is the business class bathrooms who are equipped with Jurlique hand soap, body lotion and face toner, perfect for a quick freshen up before landing.
