We’ve talked about not going overboard at industry events and now here’s some info about making healthy choices while travelling for work or play. Corporate Traveller and FCTG’s Healthwise have teamed up to provide wellness tips for flying.

Hands up who hasn’t experienced a disrupted diet and exercise routine and tiredness and jetlag when travelling for work or on a famil?

With the travel rebound in effect, Corporate Traveller Global Managing Director Tom Walley said small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) are getting back on planes for meetings, events and conferences.

“While it’s brilliant to see so many people embarking on both business and leisure trips once again, the fast pace of travel can make it challenging to prioritise a healthy lifestyle on travel days,” Mr Walley said.

“An early morning flight can impact energy levels, while a long flight can create prolonged periods of sedentary behaviour and frequent in-flight food orders.”

Luckily, Healthwise has some ideas for healthy travellers to offset the unhealthy choices that may occur with travel.

7 healthy travel tips

Top tips include packing a basic medical kit for travel that includes medications and an N95 mask and perfecting your pre-airport routine for a smooth transition. And keep up the handwashing and sanitiser!

Healthwise suggests opting for an aisle seat for ease of moving around and staying active with a walk or hitting the gym after you check in.

To keep your diet and hydration levels intact, Healthwise advises avoiding caffeine and alcohol in the air – too dehydrating – and eating balanced meals in moderation during your trip.

Healthwise Global Business Leader Tod Horton said: “Healthwise is proud to look after the health and wellbeing of Corporate Traveller employees, especially when they are travelling.”

“Even if they’re short on time and seeking convenience, business travellers can still maintain and improve their health.”
