These phone calls were downright bizarre

We’ve all been there at one time or another. You’re busy typing a quote up, consulting with a client, or sneakily checking your Facebook feed for the latest gossip, when the phone rings. And it’s for you.

At the other end of the line you find one of your customers – and they’re not happy.

Something has gone wrong, and you need to fix it – NOW!

Nobody ever wants to hear this on the phone, not ever, but sometimes what you hear on the other end of the line is just bizarre and bordering on the hilarious.

Recently, a number of travel companies spoke to MailOnline Travel and revealed some of the craziest phone calls they’re ever received.

Let’s hear a few of them.

I have to go now. I’m under arrest!

This may have been the most urgent flight change request in history.

A passenger once called Monarch Airlines (a British airline based at Luton Airport) requesting a date change for his flight later that day.

Initially he wouldn’t explain why he had to change his flight.

But, moments later, as the customer service agent was looking through his booking, the man said he had to go. Why?

“I’m really sorry, but I’m being arrested. I will try to call you back later.”

I don’t think he ever called back.

Can I bring more hand luggage onboard if I weigh less than the others?

One passenger felt it totes fair to ask EDreams, an online travel agency, if he could bring more carry on luggage on the flight as he weighed less than other people on the plane.

I think he makes a valid point, but of course, this isn’t possible, and the passenger was allocated the same baggage allowance as everybody else – both big and small.

I’ve had a pretty full on year. Can I actually get my holiday for free?

Our hearts go out to this poor passenger.

Chris Clarkson, managing director of sunshine.co.uk, once received a phone call from a man who asked if he could get his holiday for free as he had a very stressful year.

Unfortunately, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, and the passenger had to actually pay for his holiday – but hopefully he enjoyed it!!
