The go-to fermented food for health enthusiasts and staple diet of many Koreans, the nation’s favourite side dish, Kimchi, even has it’s own museum.

Learn about the culture surrounding Kimchi as well as looking at historical artifacts about the popular Korean food at the museum in Seoul. You can even taste one of the 10 different types of Kimchi and learn how to make it for yourself at the cooking school by a professional Kimchi instructor.

Step inside North Korea, the world’s most secretive country in the world and still come back safely? Yes, it is possible. The joint security area, Panmunjom is located inside a demilitarised area where talks are held between the two countries.

Embark on an organised trip from Seoul where you will learn about Korea’s complex history, pass checkpoints across the border with heavily armed guards and pass through dynamite-fulled tunnels. Not your typical tourist day trip but one you will definitely remember.

5.Holiday like the locals

Korea middle 5

Experience the tropical charms of Jeju-do, Korea’s largest island and a popular holiday destination with Koreans.

With lush countryside, incredible beaches and home to South Korea’s highest mountain Hallasan you can make like the locals and explore, relax or brave the hike up 1950m if you want to experience world-class views. Enjoy balmy evenings eating seafood caught by Jeju’s famous haeneyo, female free divers.

Which of these experiences would you try? Any others you’d add to the list?
