I’ve always thought packing cubes were a bit of a gimmick. Cute idea, sure, but do they really change the way you travel? After road-testing Lapoche on a recent family trip. (the challenge: two teens, three cities, four flights and carry-on only) we’re all here to say absolutely, yes!
And now I’m wondering how we ever lived without them on family trips.
The moment it clicked
Somewhere between an early-morning hotel checkout and a frantic dash to the airport, we realised we hadn’t once had to sit on our bag to zip it up, or unpack everything just to find our PJ’s. Instead, we unzipped a neat little cube, pulled out exactly what we needed, zipped it back up and done.
Lapoche’s cubes fit together perfectly (no weird wasted space), the mesh tops let you see everything instantly, and they’re lightweight but feel built to last. The charger bag was game-changing. No losing chargers, yelling about losing chargers, blaming everyone else about stealing chargers! My husband LOVED the shirt pack for its unpack and no ironing offering. Personally I wouldn’t use the shirt pack as it didn’t tetris fit perfectly and I really liked the satisfaction I had with a perfect fit. I’m a Virgo, don’t judge me.

The bonus feel-good factor
Here’s the part that makes us love Lapoche even more: they’re sustainable, and not in a greenwashing, box-ticking way. I found them in DJ’s but upon further research I found out that everything is made from recycled RPET fabric (old plastic bottles turned into something actually useful), and the packaging is minimal and recyclable. Plus they are an Aussie company, based in Melbourne.
It’s travel gear that’s better for your suitcase, your sanity and the planet — and we’re all for that.
Do you need them? 100% yes
I’m not exaggerating when I say these cubes changed the way we pack. For multi-stop trips, family holidays or even just weekends away, they keep everything organised and easy to find. You can separate clean and dirty clothes, repack in minutes, and avoid that dreaded suitcase explosion in your hotel room. I have never not had my suitcase start in a corner and take over half of the room before!
Karryon verdict
Lapoche packing cubes are a must for anyone who lives life out of a suitcase. They’re smart, stylish, sustainable and they just work. Start with the Packing Cube Set but don’t blame me if you end up buying the lot. I’ve just ordered more cubes plus the duffle bag and a toiletry bag. Big fan!
