Everyone’s favourite TV presenter, Catriona Rowntree, may have only received the title of Scenic’s celebrity ambassador last week, but she has a long-standing relationship with the line that Australian travellers have watched evolve over the last two decades.
Back in 2008, Catriona received the honourable title of ‘Godmother’ to Scenic’s 167-passenger Scenic Sapphire.
Additionally, she’s had the pleasure of travelling with the company for years, even before it became the river cruise specialist we know it as today.

As part of her new celebrity ambassador duties, Catriona will appear across various Scenic marketing campaigns over the next 12 months and attend public events.
She’ll also contribute to new videos and social media campaigns.

You only unpack once on a Scenic river cruise.
I’m so used to travelling like a maniac, zipping from one location to the next, but now you have all these beautiful spots appear at the end of the gangway daily.

Smaller ships. Don’t get me wrong, I love a whopping big cruise ship and Scenic do often use them.
But certainly on a Europe river cruise I felt I could get to know all my fellow passengers, develop long lasting friendships and not constantly get lost trying to find my way back to my cabin.

Scenic is all inclusive. So you’re on a day trip to a gorgeous village in Romania, you pull over for lunch and realise you don’t have the correct currency?

While we’re on the subject, using local guides, we love them! Working with locals, supporting the indigenous community, it’s no brainer to in every way immerse yourself with their expertise.
5. Scenic Enrich
This is often the highlight for many of us travellers, it’s an option you can take up to visit the home of a local, dine with them around their dinner table, learn their remarkable stories and so often be inspired.
I just love this element, that I’m sure takes a huge amount of organisation on behalf of Scenic, but trust me it’s so worth it.
4. Don’t forget your headsets
In Europe they have audio headsets that have GPS – Scenic Tailormade, so whatever icon you pass, wherever you go, you press a button on your headset to hear (in a local voice, big points for that) the story behind this.
The days of relentlessly looking up your guidebook are gone, not to mention the weight in your bag, just grab the headsets and go.

Watching the world go by from your comfy bed.
I love that you have these lovely Scenic Sun Lounges in your cabin, that at the touch of a button, the glass divider will drop down and you can enjoy the view from bed, or your desk, or on the balcony.
Pretty nifty.
