Blitz your beauty

Five quick beauty fixes that’ll have your preened, polished and off the runway ready.

Five quick beauty fixes that’ll have your preened, polished and off the runway ready.

You’ve spent the last 12 hours with your jaw wedged between two steel arm rests, trying to get some sleep on your flight. Your face is puffy, skin is dry but the seatbelt sign has flashed on and you know you only have a few minutes to get fabulously flawless for your arrival. Don’t despair! Here are five quick beauty fixes that’ll get you there. These beauty tricks can also be translated to any occasion: the quick clean-up between office meetings, the cheeky check-in between drinks…

1. Blitz the BB

The perfect application of makeup begins with a sturdy base but who has the time or the ability on a flight to apply their serum, moisturiser, primer and foundation? Cut straight to the chase with a slick of BB cream. Moisturise, prime and perfect in one hit while also minimising those pores and concealing imperfections. Shisheido’s Perfect Hydrating BB Cream is light, airy and provides that coveted bright and even tone we all seek post-flight.

2. Chase some cheek colour

From Left to Right: Shiseido Perfect Hydrating BB Cream $52 (1800 225 032), CLINIQUE Blushwear Cream Stick (in Rosey Blush) $43, Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick (#713 Hot Pink) $38.

Ditch the powder for a creamy lick of colour. Cream blushers also have the added bonus of being able to be used on the cheek, eyelid and lips. Use your fingers to blend the colour, starting from your cheekbone, up toward your apples. For a universal colour that suits most skin types, we can’t move past Clinique’s Blushwear Cream Stick in ‘Rosy Blush’.

For those in an even bigger rush, lipstick can also do the trick. Dot a little colour on your cheeks, eyelids and lips. Be careful not to overdo it, particularly if you’re mean on pink shades – you don’t want to end up looking like a sickly clown. Clarins’ creamy Joli Rouge Lipstick is your perfect ally for triple-whammy beauty.

3. Perfect the pop

A must for a quick beauty fix is the framing sensation of a few coats of mascara. Ditch the ‘lengthening’ first coat, followed by a ‘volumising’ second (who has time for that in normal circumstances!?) and opt for an all-in-one that will lift, fatten and curl the lash in a flash. Tarte Cosmetics’ Lights, Camera, Flashes Statement Mascara provides the perfect dose of colour while it lengthens and fattens your lashes.

4. Hurried hair

There’s not much you can do in a little chair with zero to no product. However, a dead-giveaway that you’re unkempt are fly aways (unless you’re going for the bed head look which, F.Y.I, is not on-trend this season). Use your fingers to brush through your locks then grab onto a light but firm-hold spray (Like Joico’s fabulous Power Spray) to smooth down the unruly strands. The look may not be polished and perfect but the smooth texture will make it seem as though you’ve made an effort.

5. Jet-dry nails

Perfectly manicured nails are always a nice touch. Though, who has time to wait till they dry while cabin crew are signalling descent. For a super quick fix, run your tips under cold water to help the lacquer set. There’s also O.P.I’s Drip Dry that’ll quick dry your nails in 60 seconds flat.
