Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy (AKP) has released its 2024 Impact Report, revealing a record-breaking year of assisting local communities around the world.
AKP contributed US$2.7 million in charitable support in 2024, impacting nearly 400,000 lives in 25 countries across four continents.
As part of its initiatives, 6,300 children were fed through the school lunch programs in East Africa with one school seeing a 270 percent spike in enrolment, while in Cambodia, investments in school infrastructure around Siem Reap helped 1,600 students gain an education.

In Uganda and Zambia, more than 20,000 bikes were shipped to women-owned enterprises, who use the money from selling the bikes to support their families and enable their children to have an education.
The program started in 2016 when AKP funded its first two containers of bikes (around 900 bikes) to Nakatindi in Zambia. It was such a success that the bike shop project now operates in Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Jordan and Egypt.
Other AKP initiatives included ninety water wells being drilled in Siem Reap, with 108,000 students in East Africa now benefiting from AKP’s Safe Water for Schools initiative, giving children access to clean, safe drinking water.
In Peru, 12 women have been trained as trail guides, while in Sri Lanka, AKP helped train four trail champions and nine assistants in partnership with the Pekoe Trail Organisation, with plans to expand the initiative in 2025.

A&K also contributed funding for the construction of a flight aviary in Tasmania to protect one of its most threatened wildlife, the raptor. The Raptor Refuge plans to build a second flight tunnel so visitors can experience having the bird of prey land on their arm.
Abercombie & Kent Philanthropy Executive Director Keith Sproule says AKP’s mission is to ensure that travel creates lasting, tangible benefits in the places people visit.
“We believe that the best way to protect our planet’s remaining wilderness is to invest in the people who live there.
“The linchpin of this effort is our commitment to staffing 17 full-time community development professionals, stretching from Peru to Kenya and Egypt to Cambodia.”
AKP applies 100 percent of guest donations to directly support the donor’s choice of program.
