Crooked Compass founder Lisa Pagotto has relaunched Crooked Compass Air as Adventure by Air to meet the growing demand for exclusive, tailor-made air travel.
From high-speed jets to seaplanes and scenic helicopter flights, Adventure by Air offers bespoke itineraries around Australia.
Pagotto (main image), a passionate traveller and entrepreneur behind the highly successful Crooked Compass travel brand, says the luxury air business was launched during the pandemic, but went into hibernation when international borders reopened and domestic tourism slowed down.
Now they have a full team and the funds to support it, the business is back, rebranded as Adventure by Air.

“Everything is 100 percent customisable, so if an agent has a corporate client or family wanting to celebrate a milestone birthday, but don’t want to go too far, we can coordinate private planes avoiding all time lost with commercial fights, and it’s fully commissionable for agents.”
She says Queensland, remote Indigenous communities and WA are generating the most interest.
“Helicopters to private islands in Queensland is generating a lot of interest because people want exclusivity, and the Top End is seeing a lot more interest in the Tiwi Islands because we have the flexibility to get into the remote Indigenous communities.”

“Western Australia is also popular because if want to go from Exmouth to Esperance … you can just go from one to the other without going via Perth, so for those with short annual leave and needing convenience, that’s working well.”
There are also mystery flights for clients wanting spontaneity, where departing from major and select regional airports, guests embark on a private journey to an undisclosed location, complete with exclusive local experiences and fine dining.
