IHG is injecting more than InterContinential Life around New Zealand with plans to open the brand’s second Kiwi hotel in Auckland by 2022.
The city’s flagship Auckland property will be located at the top of Queen Street and surrounded by the $1 billion Commercial Bay waterfront development featuring dining experiences, social venues and shopping.
In line with the InterContinential brand, the hotel will be a destination within itself with a gym, meeting facilities and unparalleled views of the ‘City of Sails’.
Over 250 guest rooms will be available to book, 90 percent of which will have waterfront views.
IHG’s Senior Director of Development in Australasia, Abhijay Sandilya, said it was time for Auckland to get a taste of the “InterContinental Life”.
“We will deliver a distinctive product that inspires those travellers who are looking for the InterContinental understated luxury, both in the leisure and corporate space.”
Abhijay Sandilya, IHG Senior Director of Development Australasia
Scott Pritchard, Chief Executive Office at Precinct Properties said the property is “absolutely fitting” for the city and believes it will help reshape the waterfront area.
