Australian-founded Baillie Lodges and Chilean Tierra Hotels are combining forces to launch new luxury hospitality brand, Beckons.
The new brand includes Baillie Lodges’ seven properties in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, with Tierra Hotel’s two properties in Chile.
Beckons CEO Michael Crawford says it has spent A$140 million elevating its portfolio, including the recent renovation and redesign of Huka Lodge in New Zealand’s Taupo region, and Chile’s Tierra Atacama, both which reopened in early 2025, as well as the reopening of Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island in late 2023 following the 2019 bushfires.
This year, state-of-the-art wellness facilities are slated for Australia’s Silky Oaks Lodge a group of 40 luxury treehouses in the Daintree Rainforest and The Louise in South Australia’s Barossa Valley, as well as new premium suites at Tierra Patagonia at the edge of Torres del Paine National Park on the shores of
Lake Sarmiento.

Crawford says going forward, Beckons will “thoughtfully add new lodges and experiences to its portfolio, expanding its global presence while ensuring each new destination strengthens the sense of connection, stewardship, and belonging that defines the brand”.
He says it comes at a time when the luxury experiential tourism sector enters a new era – “moving beyond traditional opulence toward a more meaningful travel mindset”.
“Our portfolio is a platform for travellers to experience the world more deeply through genuine cultural exchange. We believe meaningful travel should enrich everyone it touches: our guests, our teams, and the places that welcome us.
“Our people are at the heart of that hospitality philosophy, bringing a generosity of spirit and a shared commitment to emotional connection, regeneration, and cultural continuity to every journey.”

The Beckons collection includes six revered properties in Australasia: Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island, Longitude 131° at Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa, Capella Lodge on Lord Howe Island, Silky Oaks Lodge at the Daintree Rainforest, The Louise in the Barossa Valley, and Huka Lodge in New Zealand’s Taupo region.
In the Americas, lodges include the multi-award-winning Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge on Canada’s Vancouver Island, and Tierra Atacama and Tierra Patagonia in Chile.

Combined, the properties have seven projects to support community, health, education and conservation projects.
The initiatives include Longitude’s partner Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council, which provides avenues for women to support a sustainable business that in turn ensures the future of Anangu culture and traditions, and The Louise partner The Maggie Beer Foundation which is dedicated to providing free education programs and training to ensure better food and nutritional outcomes for Australian elders in aged care.
