Luxury cruise company Explora Journeys celebrated historic progress for its ever-expanding fleet with three traditional maritime ceremonies held for three new ocean ships on 15 July 2025.
In one day, Explora Journeys marked the float-out for EXPLORA III, the coin ceremony for EXPLORA IV and the steel cutting for EXPLORA V at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa, Italy.
It’s a significant step forward for MSC Group’s Swiss-based luxury lifestyle brand, which only launched in 2023 with the delivery of EXPLORA I.
The €3.5 billion (around AUD$6.2 billion) fleet is set to comprise six ships in total by 2028 with EXPLORA I and EXPLORA II already operating at near full capacity.

The 463-suite EXPLORA III will join the fleet in 2026, followed by EXPLORA IV and V in 2027 and VI in 2028.
Each new ship will offer a more sustainable journey with the four newest ships powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and ready to use renewable alternatives, such as bio-LNG and synthetic LNG.
EXPLORA V and VI will go even further with the possibility to use next-generation fuel cell technology capable of converting LNG into hydrogen to significantly reduce emissions at ports.

Explora Journeys President Anna Nash said the achievement marked a proud milestone for the brand.
“This triple celebration reflects the strength of our vision and the power of collaboration between our team, our partners at Fincantieri and the unwavering support of the Aponte-Vago family,” she said.
“Guided by our values of care, respect, and excellence, we are not just building ships, we are creating a legacy of transformative journeys that will endure for generations to come.”
