In big news for Japan-bound travellers, especially those looking for a little luxury, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is making its Japanese debut with the opening of Fairmont Tokyo on 1 July 2025.

Nestled in Tokyo’s Shibaura district, Fairmont Tokyo occupies floors 35 through 43 of the ‘BLUE FRONT SHIBAURA’ South Tower, promising panoramic views of Tokyo Bay and the city skyline, including the iconic Tokyo Tower.

The hotel is conveniently situated just 13 minutes from Haneda Airport and is a short six-minute journey from both Tokyo and Shinagawa Stations, providing quick access to the city’s myriad attractions.

The hotel boasts 217 rooms and suites, ranging from 52 to 278 square metres, with each abode featuring floor-to-ceiling windows.

Blending Tokyo’s rich heritage with contemporary aesthetics, each room features materials like sen wood and quartzite stone, complemented by brass accents.

Meanwhile, five restaurants and two bars promise to tantalise guests’ taste buds, with everything from traditional wood-fired pizzas to reimagined Japanese cuisine including modern takes on sushi and teppanyaki.

For those looking to relax, the 35th-floor Fairmont Spa and Health Club offers treatments inspired by local traditions, blending Fairmont’s signature oils with locally sourced products.

Fitness enthusiasts can also take advantage of the 24-hour gym, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, or unwind in the 20-metre indoor infinity pool that offers views of Tokyo Tower. Outside, there’s also a west-facing sundeck with a relaxation pool and an east-facing observation deck with a fireplace overlooking Tokyo Bay.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts CEO Omer Acar said, “There is much to be excited about with the opening of Fairmont Tokyo, our first property in Japan”.

“There is truly so much to see and explore, starting with the incredible panoramic views from every windowed corner and terrace,” he stated.

“I’d like to personally welcome you to take one of only six seats for a highly personalised experience at the Chef’s Sushi bar; to enjoy the tradition of afternoon tea, from a perch high above Tokyo Bay; or to discover the hotel’s speakeasy bar for a rare spirit and vinyl record listening experience.

“For a moment of respite from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, there is no better spot than the sundeck and relaxation pool.

“In this urban retreat, we have had the opportunity to bring to life a celebratory experience that marries Tokyo’s heritage and culture with a sense of innovation and modernity. This is the perfect home for Fairmont.”
