Marina Bay Sands is one of those buildings that define the Singapore skyline. And now its US$1 billion dollar reinvestment program has “reached a critical milestone” with the completion of 850 rooms.
The newly revamped rooms and suites are located in Towers 1 and 2 of the famous hotel. And they’re just the beginning of a multi-year transformation.
The rooms up close
The new room design focuses on even the smallest details and quality craftsmanship. The taupe colour scheme and high-end materials give the room an elegant, luxurious feel. The wardrobe features leather cladding on the hangers and drawer safe for both functionality and aesthetics.
Drawing inspiration from Singapore’s diverse culture, the headboard is reminiscent of a Chinese screen in a Peranakan shophouse, while the carpet’s pattern pays homage to textiles found along Arab Street.

The Armoire, a unique minibar, is the centrepiece of the room’s design. The shiny black lacquer features a muted-gold chinoiserie pattern, depicting a journey to the pagoda that represents the hotel’s botanical surroundings. It offers specialty teas, coffee, fine wines, and snacks, all presented on porcelain with the same chinoiserie design.
The Cocktail Trolley provides an elevated beverage experience that embodies Singapore’s vibrant cocktail scene. Stocked with a variety of liquors and pre-mixed cocktails, guests can make their own drinks and top them off with garnishes such as dried orange slices.

Sustainable design features and innovative technology solutions
Marina Bay Sands has launched Smart Hotel features on its mobile application to provide a seamless digital experience for guests. The features allow guests to pre-register, check-in, and complete verification requirements on their mobile phones before activating digital keys for room and lift access upon arrival.

The hotel has also introduced smart amenities, such as wireless smartphone charging pods, bedside lighting and curtain control panels, and motion-activated occupancy sensors into the new design. The entertainment system features a large 75-inch television and an immersive Yamaha sound system. Guests can even connect their devices to a portable Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speaker for a personalised music experience.
The hotel also uses environmentally friendly materials, such as bamboo, to create high-quality multi-use personal amenities.
In addition, the hotel has initiated a shift towards sustainability in a guest’s journey. For instance, a wooden block engineered from 75 locally recycled chopsticks is placed in every guest room, which encourages guests to place it on the bed when they wish to request a change of bed linen. These initiatives help reduce the environmental impact without compromising the guest experience.
Still more to come
The 850 rooms account for almost two-thirds of the 1,282 rooms that will emerge from the facelift of Towers 1 and 2.
The next renovation stage will spotlight the ultra-luxe suites. This will include upping the suite count to 422 from the previous 137.

The renovation of Towers 1 and 2 should wrap up by the end of 2023. From there, attention will shift to Tower 3, the Hotel Lobby, and Sands SkyPark.
The resort’s suite of premier amenities will feature a redesigned Executive Club lounge, fresh premium dining choices, and health and wellness options.
