Hilton will introduce LXR Hotels & Resorts in Australia with the addition of an iconic Gold Coast site to the branded portfolio of handpicked independent luxury properties.
Partnering with Islander Hotel Trading Pty Ltd, owners of the former Palazzo Versace, the currently named Imperial Hotel Gold Coast will relaunch under the LXR brand in early 2027 after a renovation, marking Hilton’s continued expansion in Australia.
The 200-room hotel features distinct neoclassical architecture and Italian-inspired interiors with a prime location on the Southport Spit and direct access to the Gold Coast Broadwater and major attractions.
As the brand’s first Australian property, this 5-star hotel will be a natural addition to LXR Hotels & Resorts’ hand-picked collection of 36 properties (both operational and in the pipeline) with each site celebrating the heritage and essence of its location.

Hilton Australasia Director of Development Tushar Raniga said guests will discover bespoke service, captivating design and immersive cultural experiences within the popular leisure destination.
“The Gold Coast provides an ideal setting for LXR’s distinctive approach to luxury, where place, design and experience are deeply connected. The property holds one of the most alluring positions along the city’s main coastal corridors and will introduce the independent spirit of LXR to the Australian market,” Raniga said.
Hilton Asia Pacific Vice President Luxury Brands Candice D’Cruz said LXR Hotels & Resorts’ arrival on the Gold Coast marks an important step in the evolution of the luxury hotel offering in Australia and follows the brand’s South-East Asia debut at Umana Bali.

“This hotel will meet the growing needs of a more discerning traveller who is seeking exceptional quality, while still wanting experiences that feel authentic, personal and deeply connected to place,” she said.
“Guests will discover a luxury experience that feels both elevated and unmistakably local, while embracing the sense of exploration that defines every LXR stay.”
In the next three years, LXR will expand its sites across Asia Pacific with Niseko, Phuket and Da Nang in the pipeline, building on the success of ROKU KYOTO and Umana Bali.
