Auckland’s The Hotel Britomart has launched a new regenerative travel experience – the first led by a hotel in New Zealand.
‘Nourishing Nature’ is a partnership between the five-star hotel and native forest farm, Velskov, which takes guests to the forest in the Waitākere Ranges for a four-hour “immersive sensory adventure”.
Here, guests learn about local traditions, how to harvest native herbs, and how reforesting native bush helps New Zealand’s biodiversity.
They forage and taste native ingredients, and plant a native tree to mark their visit to Aotearoa.

Hotel General Manager, Clinton Farley says it’s pleased to be playing its part in promoting sustainable travel.
“The tourism industry has an important part to play in conservation and the impacts on local communities, especially as we head towards New Zealand’s goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.”

Farley says regenerative travel is “an important space for us and we see our partnership with Velskov as an opportunity to help our guests learn more about sustainability and give back in a small way to the communities they are visiting”.
“We hope by taking part in this tour, our guests will gain a better understanding of the importance of regenerating native forests and take that knowledge back home.”
