Imagine being on the last night of your Brisbane two-week hotel quarantine when you get told that you’ll be moving to another hotel and have to start fresh for another 14 days. How would you feel?
Two-week quarantine has just turned into three and four-week quarantine for 129 guests staying at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Brisbane.
A quarantine ‘reset’ is underway after six cases of COVID-19 have been linked to the highly contagious UK virus strain.
So let’s all take a moment to spare a thought for Geoff and Kaz Crooks who were about to get a taste of freedom on their last night, and all those having to take one for the team and remain in lockdown for longer.
Let’s hope they get a cheeky upgrade and a post-quarantine spa package thrown in for good measure!
What’s going on?

According to a report by the ABC, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has added more precautions as two new cases of COVID-19 were recorded overnight, both in hotel quarantine.
Ms Palaszczuk said all six cases stayed on the same floor of the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Brisbane city.
The “quarantine reset” will have the 129 guests moved to different hotels to restart their 14 days in iso, where they’ll be required to be tested for the virus again.
226 people who have been working in the hotel since 30 December are also being contacted to go into quarantine and get tested. The same rules apply to 250 quarantined guests who have left the hotel since that date.
… Thankfully the QLD government is picking up the price tag for the extra quarantine time.
