Since privatisation of Essendon Airport in 2001, Essendon Fields Pty Ltd has been transforming Essendon Airport into a vibrant business and aviation hub.

Today the region was able to showcase just how far its come, with the announcement of a new Hyatt Place Hotel with adjoining Events Centre.

Speaking at the announcement in Melbourne this morning, Deputy Prime Minister, The Hon Warren Truss MP said the ‘Hyatt Place Melbourne, Essendon Fields’ will drive future economic activity in Melbourne’s North-West.

It will also create around 400 jobs during the construction phase and ongoing employment at the Events Centre.

Essendon Fields CEO, Chris Cowan said the addition of the hotel will not only work to attract new visitors but also service ‘a growing need for airport travellers and local businesses’.

Cowan also said the Events Centre will be the only facility of its kind in the region, further strengthening the unique offerings of Essendon Fields.

The Hyatt Place Hotel and Events Centre are expected to officially open to the public early 2017.
