Belmond’s Venice Simplon-Orient-Express has unveiled a new route, ‘Villeggiatura by Train’, its first Paris to Amalfi Coast journey.
Departing on 4 May 2026, the three-day journey linking Paris and the Amalfi Coast begins with Champagne on board, stops at Pompeii and ends at Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, Amalfi Coast, in Ravello.
Cuisine will reflect the regions along the route, followed by cocktails and live piano music in the train’s iconic Bar Car ‘3674’.
In Pompeii, guests disembark for a guided tour of the ruins of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed site.
Grand Suite guests will also have exclusive access to the rarely opened Casa del Larario Regio V – a house discovered in 2018 which provides a detailed snapshot of Roman domestic life.

On arrival at the Amalfi Coast, guests settle in at Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, a former 11th-century palace perched on a cliff overlooking the picturesque coastline to dine on dishes created using the region’s finest artisan food producers.
The following day is a private boat tour to Positano, or a painting lesson with a local artist at Caruso’s Loggia terrace.
On the final evening, guests gather in Caruso’s Wagner Gardens for a fine dining menu created by Executive Chef Armando Aristarco.

Venice Simplon-Orient-Express General Manager Pascal Deyrolle says he’s thrilled the train has another way to connect guests to Belmond Hotels.
“This journey offers guests a unique way to experience one of Italy’s most celebrated coastlines – with its cliffs, villages, and sea views revealed in a way that only the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express can provide”.

At the end of last year, Belmond announced the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express would take guests from Paris to Tuscany for the first time.
Launched in May 2025, the three-day experience includes a stop at the medieval city of Siena, with an exclusive visit to Palazzo Pannocchieschi d’Elci, a 13th-century aristocratic palace overlooking Piazza del Campo, and the Palio di Siena horse race.
The journey ends at Castello di Casole, Belmond’s farm estate, where guests stay for two nights.
